Frequently asked questions
Are you a tank removal company?
No. Oil Tank Directory is a public certification lookup and comparison site. We do not excavate tanks, pull permits, or perform cleanup.
Where do firm listings come from?
From publicly published state agency lists (for example WA Ecology, SC DES, NC DEQ, Maryland MDE, DC DOEE, Oklahoma OCC, CT DEEP, and Florida DEP). Each firm page cites its source.
Do you guarantee the firms you list?
No. Inclusion is not an endorsement. Lists can be incomplete or out of date. Always verify current certification with the issuing agency.
Is residential heating oil regulated like gas-station USTs?
Often not. Many residential heating-oil tanks fall outside federal UST rules. State and local rules still matter — especially at sale. See EPA's heating-oil tank page.
Can you connect me with a firm?
Yes, optionally. Use the form to describe your job and ZIP. We may share that request with one listed firm. Any contract is between you and them.
Do you publish reviews or star ratings?
No. We do not invent reviews, ratings, or Google Business Profiles for this directory.
